Your guide to the Union Square Holiday Market

The Union Square Holiday Market is the one New York market most people can find without a map: red-and-white stalls at the south end of Union Square Park, at University Place and East 14th Street, every winter. Urbanspace runs it, it is free to walk through, and last year it held 185 vendors in a few blocks. Here is how to make the most of it, and where to find us.

When it runs

2026 dates: not announced yet. Urbanspace usually posts them in early fall, and this page will be updated the day they land. For planning, the 2025 season ran from November 13 to December 24, with the market open 11 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday, 10 am to 9 pm Saturday and 11 am to 7 pm Sunday, closed on Thanksgiving.

Whether we have a booth this year, and where, is also to be confirmed. We will post our booth number and dates here as soon as they are set. Until then, the East Village shop at 304 E 5th St is open every day and is about a fifteen-minute walk from the market.

Getting there

Take the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R or W to 14 St-Union Sq and you are standing in it. Weekday afternoons are calm. Weekend evenings in December are shoulder to shoulder, which is fun once and tiring twice.

What we bring when we are there

Choose Your Word beanies and caps, pop culture tees, canvas totes and whatever is new that week. The beanies make the kind of gift people actually wear. See the gifts by word collection for the full menu.

What we cannot do at a booth is custom printing. For a shirt with your own image, walk about fifteen minutes southeast to 304 E 5th St, where it takes under 30 minutes and custom tees start at $45. We print your own photos and artwork; we cannot print logos, brand marks or artist merch designs.

Make it a loop

The market sits at the top of the East Village, so it pairs well with a walk down Second Avenue: browse the stalls, warm up somewhere on St. Marks, then come by the shop on 5th Street. If you found us at the market and want a custom piece, say so and we will sort the timing.

Union Square Holiday Market, University Pl and E 14th St, New York, NY 10003. Free admission. Keep it weird.
